SMART Goals

As the new year approaches many people begin to reflect on the past year and make goals for the year to come.

Making REALISTIC goals can be a great way to maintain good mental health. Goals give us purpose, help us to continue pushing through each day when we are struggling, and helps improve self-esteem by giving us small successes to celebrate as we make progress toward our goals.

Sometimes we can get overwhelmed by our goals is we make them too big, too vague, or unrealistic. When we are overwhelmed, we are less likely to take the steps needed to achieve our goals. This can lead to low self-esteem and can impact our overall mental health negatively.

Using SMART goals is a great way to ensure your goals get achieved and do not become overwhelming. A SMART goal is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and has a Timeline.
